Mushroom Latte

Christ is Risen!

Mushroom latte!? I know, it sounds crazy right? But bare with me…

Since I am limiting my coffee intake, I turn to Earl Grey tea and as my midday caffeine I have matcha. Lately I have been making mushroom lattes and adding it to my daily routine. I know mushroom lattes must sound crazy but let me tell you, it is delicious! I use Om’s Mushroom Powder powdered mushroom blend IMMUNE + Terrasoul Superfood lion’s mane powder.

Mushrooms are a great superfood that doesn’t break the bank. It is great for our brain, immune system, stress, fatigue, full of vitamins and antioxidants, well known for its adaptogenic properties (which helps stress), and I could go on! Nutritional benefits vary from mushroom to mushroom but you get the benefits for your health either way. If I haven’t convinced you on mushroom lattes yet, how about this?

Single Species Mushroom Powders and Blends

If you have a particular health concern, a single species (such as those listed in the table above) may deliver the powdered mushroom benefits to suit your needs. If you’re looking to increase overall health, powdered mushroom blends can present a variety of benefits.

In addition to single species mushroom powders, Om Mushroom, for example, offers flavored and unflavored mushroom blends to support specific needs, including:

Beauty (Chaga, King Trumpet, Cordyceps, Maitake, Shiitake)

Immunity (Turkey Tail, Maitake, Shiitake, Cordyceps, Reishi)

Energy (Cordyceps, Reishi, Turkey Tail, King Trumpet, Maitake)

Restoration (King Trumpet, Cordyceps, Reishi)

Brain Fuel (Lion’s Mane, Reishi)

While convenience plays a major role, the ability to receive nutrients from mushroom powder also relies on quality. (Om Mushroom Powder)

Still not convinced? Think it is hard to add mushroom powders to our daily life? Read this below!

Conveniently Incorporate Powdered Mushroom Into Your Diet

Mushroom powder is made from dehydrated and ground mushrooms to provide a higher concentration of nutrients, prebiotic fibers, amino acids, micronutrients, and antioxidants. To achieve powdered mushroom benefits for your health, incorporate the recommended dosage into foods like soups, dips, sauces, casseroles, chilis, stews, or pasta. The mild, earthy flavor of many powdered mushroom supplements is also well-suited for drinks like coffeetea, hot cocoa, or smoothies.

For optimal immune support, it is recommended that those new to functional mushroom consumption double the recommended dosage of 2 grams per day for the first three weeks, as many supplements are bioreactive and it takes time for your body to assimilate. (Om Mushroom Powder)

I don’t get paid any affiliation from Om Mushroom Powder. I am simply a happy customer of theirs. The mushroom latte speaks for itself!

Makes 1 mug

Ingredients

2 scoops of “IMMUNE” Om Mushroom Powder

2 scoops of Lion’s Mane mushroom powder from “Terrasoul Superfoods”

Sweetener of choice, optional

Non dairy milk of choice — my personal preference is vanilla flavored oat milk, optional

Cinnamon, to sprinkle on

Latte spice mix, optional

~1 – 2 cups boiled water

Directions

Boil hot water. Add all the ingredients to a cup, except for the milk. Add a few tablespoons of hot water to the mix, a little above the powdered mix. Stir the mix to remove any chunks, if they develop. Fill the mug with hot water and leave space for desired amount of non dairy milk, if desired. Add sweetener of choice, sweeten to taste. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon if desired.

Variation:

Latte spice mix from “Thrive Energy Cookbook”

This nutrient-dense flavor-blaster can be mixed into hot drinks to stabilize blood sugar.

2 parts cinnamon

2 parts nutmeg

1 part cloves

Combine all the ingredients in a spice blender and grind to a fine powder. If you’re starting out with powdered ingredients, just stir them together. Keep in a sealed container, in a cool, dry place, for at least 4 months.
